Ever since I was introduced to Ampersand Claybord (1993) I knew it was perfect for airbrushing. Now, I would never consider airbrushing another painting on papers or canvas. No way No how!!! I am sure you will feel the same when you try it for yourself. My #1 Claybord tip is" minute details are rendered by paint removal not paint application". When you try Claybord Smooth (Green Label) make sure to get the Claybord tool kit. It has everything you need to manipulate the surface like a pro.
Claybord now make their own inks. Very Awesome, super concentrated to last a long time and show vibrant colors no acrylic paint can come close to. Think of them as Super Candy Colors.
Ampersand Claybord was developed by fine artists for fine artists so you won't see it advertised in any airbrush magazine. Claybord is marketed in the Fine Arts Arena. Any quality art store will stock Claybord to some degree.
Sizes range from 4in x 5in. to 4 ft x 8ft.
Ampersand Claybord can be ordered online from Blick Art Stores and Pearl Art Stores
Claybord is also available in other forms:
Claybord Black (white clay covered with black ink)
Claybord Gessobord (Prepared gesso instead of clay)
Claybord Textured (white textured clay surface)
Claybord PastelBord ( marble dust coated hardboard)
